Primaries Fallout: Omo-Agege Dumps APC

FORMER deputy senate president, Ovie Omo-Agege, has resigned his membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State.
A statement by his media aide, Sunday Areh, said the resignation of Omo-Agege, who representing Delta Central in the 9th Senate, was with immediate effect.
According to the statement, Ovie Omo-Agege, the Obarisi of Urhoboland, in a letter to the chairman of Orogun Ward 2, Ughelli North LGA, Delta State, stated that after reviewing recent developments within the APC in the state, and having consulted with his associates and supporters, it was clear that his political objectives and those of his constituents would be better served outside the APC.
He stressed that he will not remain a sitting duck in a party where he cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State and Nigeria.
While, thanking the APC for the opportunity to serve as deputy president of the 9th Senate, he wished the party well and requested that his name be removed from all the party’s membership records, registers and communication lists.
Omo-Agege said his focus remained on delivering development and effective representation for Delta Central, Delta State and Nigeria, adding that he will seek to pursue these goals outside the APC.
