*Three Escape With Gunshot Injuries
A JOINT operation, involving operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), the military and Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has led to the arrest of five suspected members of the gang allegedly responsible for the abduction of 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Imo State while travelling to their assigned orientation camps in Akwa-Ibom and Abia states from Ibadan, Oyo State, on October 1.
The victims regained their freedom on October 7.
The suspects were picked up during a series of intelligence-led operations conducted at different locations in Rivers and Abia states between October 10 and 14, but three other suspects escaped with varying degrees of injury, prompting a massive manhunt for them.
Details of the operation and identities of the suspects have not been disclosed.
