Coup: Nollywood Actor Arrested Over Alleged Role

Published:

IT has been revealled that Nollywood filmmaker and actor, Stanley Amandi, was arrested alongside military officers accused of planning to topple the administration of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
It was gathered that Amandi, a director and former chairperson of the Enugu State chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), was arrested in September last year, was engaged to play the role of a propagandist by the alleged plotters, who planned to assassinate top government officials last year, including Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, among others, and execute a violent takeover of government.
On Monday, January 26, the Defence Headquarters confirmed the plan, saying the indicted officers will be arraigned before military judicial panels.
This was after it had vehemently denied any such plot or link between the arrest of the alleged plotters with the a planned take over of government, saying findings identified “a number of the officers with allegations of plotting to overthrow the government,” which was “inconsistent with the ethics, values and professional standards required of members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.”
