Sylva Rejects Tribunal’s Verdict On Bayelsa Guber, Heads To Appeal Court

Published:

THE All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the November 11, last year governorship election in Bayelsa State and former minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, has rejected the verdict of Election Tribunal affirming the election of Governor Douye Diri.

Following the tribunal’s judgment, Sylva, after a closed-door meeting with elders and stakeholders of the party to discuss the next course of action, has directed his legal team to seek redress at the Court of Appeal.

He said: “We are not satisfied with the decision of the tribunal. But this is just a court of first instance and after meeting with the elders and critical stakeholders of our great party, the APC, we directed our legal team to seek justice for Bayelsa at the Appeal Court.”

Sylva assured the people of the state that the appellate court would surely correct the “travesty perpetrated by the tribunal,” adding that the liberation of Bayelsa was close and that justice was inevitable for the traumatised people of the state, even as he urged them to remain positive, law-abiding and steadfast.
