Defection Rumour: I Have No Plans To Leave APC, Says Ganduje

Published:

A FORMER national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has dismissed reports that he has defected or planning to defect the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), insisting he remains a committed member of the ruling party.

Ganduje described as false and politically motivated, posters circulating on social media alleging that he had left the ruling party, saying: “The claims were part of a deliberate misinformation campaign aimed at misleading the public, creating confusion among APC supporters and generating unnecessary political speculation.”

The former Kano State governor, in a statement by his former commissioner for Information and Chief of Staff, Muhammad Garba, reiterated that he has never contemplated leaving the APC, insisting the reports linking him to the NDC lack both political and logical basis.

Ganduje said the APC remains Nigeria’s largest political party and continues to gain support under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, reaffirming his commitment to working with its leadership to advance the current administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He also disclosed that those responsible for producing and circulating the alleged defection posters had been identified, warning that legal action would be taken if the materials were not withdrawn and spread of the claims not stop immediately.

Ganduje urged party members, supporters and the public to disregard the posters, as they do not reflect his political position or intentions.
