THE United Kingdom (UK) branch of the TinubuDatiwa Support Group has pledged to mobilise resources and voters to secure a resounding victory for President Bola Tinubu in Ondo State in next year’s general elections.
Its President, Oluwatosin Balogun, who made the pledge during a meeting with the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, in Central London on Saturday, October 17, declared the state a difficult terrain for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidates, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to campaign due to massive support for Tinubu.
Balogun said the group’s commitment to the President’s re-election was a result of his developmental strides in the Southwest, particularly the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Ilesa-Owo Expressway, as well as the infrastructural development initiatives of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The group also pledged to return to Nigeria ahead of the elections to participate in the voting process, in addition to deploying its resources towards voter mobilisation.
Responding, Ajanaku commended the group for its commitment to Tinubu’s re-election and for recognising Aiyedatiwa’s efforts in transforming Ondo State into an industrial hub.
Ajanaku said the governor had begun taking strategic steps to secure massive votes for the President, including the appointment of four special assistants in each local government area to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and the inauguration of presidential campaign committees.
He stated that the governor was determined not only to retain Ondo State’s position as the state with the highest number of votes for Tinubu in the Southwest during the 2023 presidential election, but also to surpass the previous record next year.
Ajanaku said the branch’s determination to return home and mobilise support for the President demonstrated the strength of Tinubu’s political support base in the state, adding.l that the group’s commitment sends a strong signal to opposition presidential candidates that the state would be a battleground for them in the election.
The commissioner expressed confidence that Tinubu’s re-election would attract further development to Ondo State.
