Tinubu Dissolves Boards, Agencies, Others

Published:

PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate dissolution of the Boards of all Federal Government parastatals, agencies, institutions and government-owned companies.

This was contained in a statement on Monday, June 19, 2023 by the Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Willie Bassey.

The statement said boards, commissions and councils listed in the Third Schedule, Part One, Section 153 (i) of the 1999 Constitution, such as the Nigeria Judicial Council (NJC); Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB); Council of State; Federal Character Commission (FCC); Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC); Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC); National Population Commission (NPC); Police Service Commission (PSC) and Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), were, however, excluded from the dissolution.

According to the statement: “In view of this development and until such a time new Boards are constituted, the chief executive officers of the parastatals, agencies, institutions and government-owned companies are directed to refer matters requiring the attention of their Boards to the President, through the permanent secretaries of their respective supervisory ministries and offices.”

Bassey also said permanent secretaries had last Friday been instructed to direct all correspondence to the President through the Office of the SGF and ensure compliance with the provision of this directive, which took effect from Friday, June 16, 2023.
