THE Delta State Government, after consultation with the organised Labour, has constituted an administrative panel of inquiry into the unclear circumstances surrounding the death of a Deputy Director in the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Adeda Ekwevugbe, on Friday, September 25, at an undisclosed hospital.
A statement late on Friday, September 25, by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Kingsley Emu, named members of the panel as Charity Ehimen, Permanent Secretary, Office of the Head of Service, as Chairperson; and Mamuzo Erebe (SAN ), Solicitor General/Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, as member.
Other members include Lucky Nkemachor, Permanent Secretary, Office of the Secretary to the State Government; A.E Oghoro, Executive Assistant to the Governor, Public Service; Goodluck Ofobruku, Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Delta State; Benson Efeotor, Chairman, Joint Negotiating Council (JNC); Wilson Asekutu, Chairman, Trade Union Congress (TUC); and Secretary of JNC, Dennis Chuks Isichei, as Secretary.
The panel has two weeks to complete to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of Adeda to enable government deal fairly and squarely with all the issues involved and within the scope of the law.
The government commiserated with the family of the deceased, assuring civil dervants of the safety of its work environment and its abiding respect for the dignity and sanctity of life.
