THE monthly environmental sanitation rxercise for the month of September holds across the Delta State on Saturday, September 26, from 7a.m. to 10a.m.A statement signed by the Director, Public Communication/Functioning Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Stella Macaulay, however, said vehicular and human movement will not be restricted during the exercise, due to the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (Resit) taking place across the state.The statement advised the public to use the period to use the period to cut and clear overgrown weeds around their premises; desilt and clear their drainage channels; properly dispose of refuse and maintain clean surroundings; take all necessary measures to prevent the spread of diseases; and ensure that the environment within a 20-metre radius of their premises is properly cleaned and maintained.The statement stated that commissioner, permanent secretary and staff of the ministry, in collaboration with other relevant authorities, will monitor the exercise across the state to ensure compliance.The government further stressed that environmental cleanliness is acontinuous responsibility, urging residents to maintain clean and healthy surroundings at all times, and not wait until the monthly sanitation exercise to clean their environment.It expressed appreciation to residents for their cooperation and support towards maintaining a clean, healthy and sustainable environment across the state.
