CELEBRITY chef and entrepreneur-turned politician, Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, otherwise known as Cubana Chief Priest, believes President Bola Tinubu does not yet trust him as an Igbo man, ostensibly because he worked for then opponent and Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi.
Okechukwu, who collected the All Progressives Congress (APC) forms to contest the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency, Imo State, seat in the House of Representatives, lost his bid to secure the ticket, although he later explained that he withdrew from the race after being made to understand that it was not the turn of his area to produce the candiate.
The Imo State Coordinator of pro-Tinubu group, the City Boys Movement, had switched support for Tinubu, saying he does not want to lose a second time with Obi, who he said stands no chance of winning the election.
Speaking during a livestream with popular streamer, Peller, on Tuesday evening, May 19, Cubana Chief Priest said: “Let me tell you, as I am now, Tinubu doesn’t really trust me as an Igbo man. He looks at me with one eye. He is still like, ‘this one that has worked for Peter Obi before.’
Asked why he left Obi, he responded: “Because I don’t want to lose again, because they say first fool no be fool na the second fool be proper fool.”
