*IGP Inspects Scenes, Visits Victims, Reinforces Security Across Metropolis

VICE President, Kashim Shettima, has condemned the multiple explosions that rocked Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, on Monday evening, and mourned the victims, describing the attacks that claimed 25 lives as tragic and unjustifiable.
This just as the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, visited victims of the explosions receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) during an assessment tour of the situation and reinforcement of security response in the state.
Shettima said no religion supports the killing of innocent people, as the sanctity of human life remains a core principle shared by all major faiths.
Speaking at the closing of the Annual Ramadan Tafsir at the State House Mosque, Abuja, the vice president prayed that Allah grants eternal rest to those killed and comfort their grieving families.
He also prayed for an end to terrorism and violence, calling for divine intervention against those responsible for such acts.
Apart from the scene of the Monday Market, Disu also visited the Borno State Government House and the State Police Command headquarters, where he held discussions to review existing security arrangements and strengthening coordinated response strategies among security agencies.
He commiserated with victims and families of those affected, reassuring residents of the Force’s determination to dismantle all criminal networks responsible for the attacks and prevent any recurrence.
Disu said security had been significantly reinforced across Maiduguri and environs, with increased deployments, enhanced surveillance and intensified joint operational measures already in place to forestall further threats and ensure their safety.
