*Gov Resigned From Kwankwasiya Movement, Not NNPP, Says Founder

KANO State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has sacked his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Sunusi Kwankwaso.
A statement by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, on Saturday, January 24, in Kano, said the governor appointed Mustapha Bakwana to replace Kwankwaso.
However, it was gathered that Kwankwaso, a former chairman of Madobi Local Government an ally of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, actually resigned his appointment on Friday, January 24, following reports that the governor was set to dump the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) nd join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kwankwaso, in the announcement via a video message circulated on Facebook, said he would not be part of any political move that aligns the administration with the APC.
While reaffirming his loyalty to the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement and former governor of the state, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the former adviser said his decision was driven by political principle and long-standing ideological commitment.
He said he prepared and attempted to submit his resignation letter immediately after learning of his principal’s plan, noting that efforts to transmit the letter through official channels were unsuccessful.
He explained that the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) declined to receive the letter, compelling him to notify the public of his resignation through the video message.
According to him: “After learning that the governor had left the NNPP and was expected to move to the APC, I tendered my resignation, but it was not received.
“This video is to officially notify the public that I have resigned from my role as a political adviser. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and for the work we carried out together over the last two years.”
He stated that he could not continue to serve in an administration whose political direction no longer aligns with the Kwankwasiyya ideology, adding: “I will not abandon Kwankwaso or the Kwankwasiyya movement. My loyalty remains with Kwankwaso, and I have no intention of joining the APC.”
He expressed appreciation to the state government for the opportunity to serve, acknowledging the political exposure and experience gained during his tenure.
The governor appointed a former special adviser to APC’s former national chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to replace Kwankwaso.
Meanwhile, the Founder of NNPP, Boniface Aniebonam, has stated that Yusuf did not resign from the party, but from the Kwankwasiya Movement, led by Kwankwaso.
Aniebonam, in a statement on Saturday, January 24, argued that governor’s resignation letter was not addressed to NNPP’s authentic National Working Committee (NWC), led by Major Agbo, the state chairman or ward secretary, but to a member of the Kwankwasiya Movement in Diso-Chiranchi Ward in Gwale Local Council.
He insted that the party’s NWC does not recognise the Kwankwasiya Movement ward chairman as chairman of the party.
