You Cannot Intimidate Me, Sowore Tells SAN In Court

Published:

THERE was a mild drama at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, March 23, when activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, clashed with a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) while attempting to address journalists inside the courtroom.
In a viral video, the lawyer confronted Sowore, insisting that the courtroom was not an appropriate venue for a press briefing.
However, Sowore disagreed with his position, insisting: “You’re intimidating me and insulting my intelligence, because you’re introducing yourself to me as a SAN. I also have my own SANs.”
Sowore insisted that no law prohibits addressing journalists inside the courtroom.
But the senior lawyer rejected his argument, saying: “I have practised for close to three decades and have never seen this happen.”
The lawyer said then urged the journalists to move the interview outside the court premises, saying: “The court must serve as a venue of justice, not a conference.”
