*‘My Wife Will Get Tired’
THE woman in the viral video, who tore her husband’s passport on arrival at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos State from Italy, Mrs. Favour Igiebor, has finally explained the reasons for her action.
Admitting that they had family issues long before returning to Nigeria from Europe, Mrs. Igiebor, a Tiktok video maker renowned for posting about her spouse and children, said on Monday, August 12, in another video: “This issue has been going on for a long time, and I have to do what I did.
“Don’t just look at my actions alone; I’m not a mad woman, I have gone through so many things. I have my own reasons.
“What if I had done this thing in Europe, where we came from? I don’t want him to go through much stress, which is why I did it in Nigeria. So many people at the airport that day saw me acting.
“It has been a family issue all the time. My husband even cannot speak about it. I suffered with him and just like that, his family wants my suffering to be shattered.
“To be sincere, I did it so my husband would not return (to Europe). I have gone through pain. Many don’t know what I’m going through. My husband bought me an iPhone to calm me. It has been going on for years. He knows that I’ve not forgotten it; I’m just pretending to have gone past it.”
She apologised to Nigerians who must have been upset by her actions, as well as to Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), saying her husband had ignored her to care for his family.
“My husband is a mother’s boy, sister’s and brother’s best brother, making me, the wife, to be suffering. I did what I did for him to know that I’ve been bearing the pain.
“Those of you calling for my arrest should come and hold me responsible. I cry every time after three kids. They should let me reap what I have sown with him. My husband should come out and say what happened.”
Although Mrs. Igiebor did not disclose further details of the circumstances surrounding her action, in yet another viral video, she said: “Look at my eyes; I do cry a lot. Many people commenting on social media don’t understand what I am going through.
“You have to ask what happened; don’t just look at the action alone. I have my reasons; I have gone through a lot of family issues. I cannot be suffering. I suffered with him.”
She stated that she had thought of tearing up the passport in Europe, but decided that would have caused her husband too many problems.
Speaking in an interview by @JejojaFamily Tv, the woman of three reiterated that the issues with her husband have been going on for years, noting: “These issues have been going on for a very long time. I was just dancing to the tune till I arrive my motherland, Nigeria, which just happened, and I did what I did.”
She stated that all the bloggers attacking her over the video shouldn’t look at what she did, but what might have led to it, adding: “I am not a mad woman who would just come and act like that. I have my reasons. I have gone through so many things.
“So many of you just commenting on the video, I am seeing so many comments, friends calling me, those that have never called me for ages are calling me, those that have heard from me 20 years ago are calling me. I am not like that.
“So many of you commenting, what if I had done this thing in Europe where we were coming from? Because I don’t want him to go through a lot of stress, that’s why I did it in Nigeria.
“So I don’t care about what people are writing, because if you don’t know what is happening, don’t just comment on what you don’t know. You have to know how to come into an issue.
“So many people at the airport that day saw me. Those who have thinking faculty were calm to ask me, wanting to know what happened.
“Do you think I will just come up and tear his passport like that? No. I don’t have to do that. I have gone through a lot of things. Family issues here and there every time.
“My husband cannot speak. It took me a long time, because he is the one controlling my page for me. He is the one handling my page for me. He’s the one that has everything.
“So, I had to go for it, because my email was attached to it and his email too was attached to it. I had to go and look for it to get this passport, because I know even he himself did not know that I would go to this extent.
“I suffered with this my husband. I know how many years I suffered with him and just like that, they just want my suffering to be chartered away (sic). Where is it done?
“I know men will never accept it. But those men who have sisters who have gone through this thing I’m going through now will understand, but other men would not understand.
“So, those of you who are saying she should be arrested, come and hold me responsible. I don’t understand, for what reason? I know the pains I’m passing through. Look at my eyes I cry everyday, after three kids.
“Then one man would now want to send me back to where I do not know. I want to reap what I have sowed with him, that’s all I have to say. If he knows he has the mind, let him come out and say what’s happening.”
In the video at the airport, one traveller could be heard saying the couple had been having issues throughout the flight, even as some people around tried to console the husband, telling him to be calm.
On his part, her husband, in a video online, said she had posted a video message earlier in the day, having gained unauthorised access to his social media account.
“My wife posted something, I know she has gone far, because she is very smart. She has gone far to get the password of this page and she posted something this morning.
“Since she wants us to do it this way, we will work on it together. I believe she will get tired.”
He did not reveal the cause of the incident, although he alluded to family squabble, but urged Nigerians to watch the complete video, which he said had already gained the attention of bloggers and even international media outlets, including the CNN.
“Go and watch the video; I have the full clip. You’ll see something. She did not know that I gave somebody my phone.
“This is something that we can solve as a family, but she is trying to push it up. No problem, I’m following her and I will tackle it, and she will get tired.”
