NIGERIA’s senior national team, the Super Eagles, on Saturday, September 6, defeated their Rwandan opponents by 1-0 win in their 2026 World Cup qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
A second-half goal from substitute, Tolu Arokodare, made the difference and earned Nigeria the maximum three points.
Striker, Victor Osimhen, who had an effort ruled out for offside in the first half, sustained an injury during the encounter that has so far drawn criticism from most Nigerian football enthusiasts.
The result leaves Nigeria in third place, ahead of their next game against South Africa on Tuesday, September 9.
