Warri Constituency Delineation Impasse: Tompolo Urges Quick, Peaceful Resolution

Published:

THE Ibe-Ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation and Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, has called for a quick and peaceful resolution of the crisis arising from the Warri Federal Constituency ward delineation by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), following the judgment of the Supreme Court.
Tompolo, in a statement on Tuesday, June 9, recalled that since June 8, women and youths from our various communities had occupied and vowed not to leave oil and gas installations in the Escravos and Warri river areas over the non-implemention of the exercise, lending his voice to calls for a peaceful resolution of the impasse.
Noting that the Ijaw nation has been known for their peaceful ways, and cannot now deviate from that history, Tompolo said: “The current political situation arising from the failure of INEC to complete the delineation of wards in the Warri Federal Constituency and mass action must not be allowed to be hijacked or to degenerate into violence of any sort.
“I am calling for calm, no matter the situation, and a meeting of community leaders to immediately enable us devise a way forward. We must all join hands in seeking a peaceful resolution to this impasse.
“INEC must determine to do the right thing and restore the peace in Warri and environs. We call on the people of Warri, whether Ijaw, Itsekiri or Urhobo, to be calm and wait patiently for INEC to do the right thing.”
