Tinubu In Malabo, To Sign Agreements On Petroleum Resources, Security With Equatorial Guinea

PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea, for a three day official visit, at the instance of his host, President Theodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. 

    The President arrived the Presidential Wing of the of the Malabo International Airport about 2:07pm on Wednesday, August 14, and was received by the country’s Prime Minister, Mr. Manuela Roka Botey. 

     Shortly after a brief welcome ceremony at the airport, Tinubu proceeded to the Presidential Palace, also known as People’s Palace Court, where there was a brief ceremony, followed by a family photo and a military parade, after which he would later hold a private meeting with Mbasogo. 

The private meeting between the two Presidents would be followed by signing of bilateral agreements on various areas, including oil and gas, and security.

According to his iteinery, Tinubu would later sign a historic visitors’ book, after which a press statement would be made available, ending with a dinner. 

       He is being accompanying by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; Defence, Abubakar Badaru; Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi; Youth Development, Jamila Ibrahim-Bio; and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo.

Others include the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari; Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of Matrix Group, Abdulkabir Adisa Aliu, among others. 

Equatorial Guinea is the seventh African state Tinubu is visiting and his 22nd foreign trip since assuming office on May 29, last year.
