Tinubu Endorses Akpabio, Tajudeen As Senate President, Deputy

PRESIDENT-ELECT, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, after a meeting with the leadership of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja to deliberate on their choice of senate president, deputy, endorsed senator Godswill Akpabio and Senator Jibrin Barau for the posts.

  The meeting at the Defence House in Abuja had in attendance, the National Chairman of APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; Deputy National Chairman (North), Senator Abubakar Kyari; Deputy National Chairman (South), Emma Eneukwu and the National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore took place .

It was gathered that Tinubu prefers Akpabio and Senator Jibrin Barau alliance.

For Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen emerged as a compromise option, with the North Central promised the position of Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

It was further gathered that over 60 per cent of senators have queued behind Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom State and immediate past minister of Niger Delta Affairs.

Others in the Senate Presidency race include Majority Whip and a former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
