Tinubu Condoles Mahama, Ghana Over Tragic Crash

PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has extended condolences to President John Mahama, the Government and people of Ghana over the tragic helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, that claimed the lives of Defence Minister, Edward Omane Boamah, his Environment counterpart, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and six others.
Tinibu, while expressing solidarity with Ghana at its time of grief, following the crsh, which he described as a profound national tragedy, assured the country of Nigeria’s support and shared mourning, noting: “The thoughts and prayers of Nigerians are with the families of the deceased and the entire nation of Ghana.”
He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and for strength and comfort for their families and all those affected by the loss in the ill-fated helicopter, operated by the Ghana Air Force, which was flying from the capital, Accra, to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region when it lost radar contact.
All eight occupants on board died in the crash, including a senior national security adviser and vice-chair of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Following the crash, the Ghanaian government declared a national day of mourning, suspended all official engagements and directed flags be flown at half-staff in honour of the deceased.
