The demand, said to have been conveyed through a letter addressed to community leaders, warned that failure to comply would attract consequences.
This came on the heels of a recent attack by Lakurawa bandits in parts of Arewa South in Kangiwa Local Council of the state, where at least 33 people were reportedly killed.
The state government confirmed knowledge of the threat, but assured residents that preventive measures were already in place to protect lives and property, with Governor Nasir Idris ordering an immediate reinforcement of security personnel in Utouno and neighbouring communities.
He also reportedly directed the commissioner of Police to deploy additional personnel to the area to forestall any potential attack.
Confirming the authenticity of the letter, his Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, said the state government hataken precautionary measures to forestall any attack.
“I just spoke with the Director of Security; he confirmed the information and said security has been deployed to the area.
“The state government is not playing with the security of the state. His Excellency has been up and doing on security matters, and this will not be an exception.”
