THE Supreme Court has upheld the victory of Governor Bassey Otu as the governor of Cross River State.
The PDP and its candidate, Senator Sandy Onor, had challenged the membership of Out of the APC, but the Court of Appeal, Calabar Division, dismissed their appeal seeking the disqualification of Otu from the race for allegedly holding dual citizenship, certificate forgery and for not being a member of the APC as of the time of the election.
These arguments were earlier dismissed by the election tribunal, which agreed with the governor’s submission that PDP and its candidate cannot challenge his election on the grounds of party sponsorship and nomination, because they were not aspirants during the APC governorship primaries.
