THE Supreme Court has reserved judgment in the three cases challenging the victory of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in last year’s governorship election.
The cases were brought by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its candidate, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, Labour Party (LP) and its candidate, Mr. Ken Pela, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, challenging the declaration of Oborevwori as the duly elected governor by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), having polled 360,234 votes ahead of his closest rival, APC’s Omo-Agege, who secured 240,229 votes.
An appeal court judgement in November last year affirmed the governor’s election, after a three-member tribunal, headed by Justice C.H. Ahuchaogu, dismissed Omo-Agege’s petition for lacking merit and speculative.
The judgment is likely to be delivered on Friday, January 12.
