Soludo Tirades Is Confirmation That Obidient Movement Is Not About Igbo, Says LP National Chairman
*Its Nigeria’s Project
THE National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure, has described the comments of Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, on the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as a confirmation that his (Obi’s) ambition is not an Igbo project, but Nigeria’s.
In his reaction to the article detailing Soludo’s comments on Obi, Abure said: “I sincerely think that Soludo is missing the point here. This project is certainly not about Umunna! Even brothers and sisters normally disagree.
“Soludo’s position may not have been pleasing to some people, but he is entitled to his opinion. I will rather go with what someone said elsewhere that what is happening in the Southeast is a clear testimony to the fact that Obidient Movement is not about Igbo agenda, as some people are claiming; it is a Nigeria Project.
“So, it serves no purpose telling us how you contributed to making Soludo a professor. He merited it. Just the way some people believe that Obi merits being the president, come 2023. PVC, oya, kia, kia!”
In the same vein, spokesperson of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organisation, Ndi Kato, it is a desperate grab for popularity by Soludo, pointing out that Obi remains focused on his promises to Nigerians and would not descend to reading Soludo’s disparaging article.
In a reaction to the article, Kato described Soludo’s submissions as fallacious, saying: “We read with amusement and dismay, a very lengthy and belaboured treatise of an article, written by Soludo, focused on our presidential candidate, Obi.
“It seems obvious that Soludo is itching for the limelight in this election season, perhaps fired up by possible understanding or alliance with our struggling political opponents. While we note the glaring fallacies, misrepresentations, personal insinuations and signs of personal vendetta in that long write-up, neither Obi, the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organisation, nor the Labour Party, for that matter, has any interest in an extended engagement with Soludo this critical time when there is a bigger fish to fry. Obi has his work well cut-out for him this campaign season.
“Primarily, he is accelerating his reach-out and influence to all Nigerians, rural and urban, in all areas, regions and states and firmly engaging them on his critical and visionary plans to take the country from consumption to production.
“In doing this, Obi is firmly placing youths, intensive agricultural revolution and revamping of critical areas of the economy as part of the focal points in the drive to turn around our fortunes and take back our country.
“We, the youth, spreading across partisan political lines, have found reason to place the highest level of trust and confidence in Obi and we are committed to continuing the partnership with him, transparently, vigorously and creatively, to bring to fruition, the vital changes urgently required in this our country, of so much potential.
“We strongly believe that A New Nigeria is possible… and together with Obi, we are working to make this a reality. This is our focus; this is our occupation… and we shall not be distracted.”
