OVER 100 youths suspected to be Internet fraudsters and apprentices were on Saturday, September 21, arrested at the popular Army Estate, Effurun in Uvwie Local Council of Delta State by soldiers from the 3 Battalion of the Nigerian Army Barracks, following intelligence reports of the operation of HK Yahoo training school within the estate premises.
HK or Hustle Kingdom school is a network institution where intending Internet fraudsters are trained.
It was gathered that after months of gathering intelligence reports on the activities of the suspects, armed soldiers stormed the school and arrested the suspects, including the alleged owner and his accomplices.
About 90 suspects were arrested in the early hours of Saturday, while another set of about 50 were arrested late Saturday following the raid of the estate.
“About 150 of them were arrested. The HK School was raided by soldiers in the early hours of Saturday. The second set was apprehended late Saturday night. The soldiers acted on intelligence reports,” a source told Niger Delta Today on Sunday, September 22.
The military authorities at the Battalion loctad Effurun have handed over the suspects to the Police at Ekpan for further investigation, possible prosecution after proper profiling.
When contacted, spokesman of the state Police Command, Bright Edafe (SP), confirmed the arrest, but declined further details.
The estate is a highbrow residential Post Service Housing Estate for retired military officers and civilians in Uvwie, Delta State.
