THE Rivers State Government has offered reasons for the recent retrieval of two Toyota Hilux vehicles and one Hiace bus from the premises of the suspended Deputy Governor, Mrs. Ngozi Odu.
In a statement in Port Harcourt, the government explained that the action was a routine administrative procedure aimed at securing government property, a development it said has been misrepresented by those seeking to stir unnecessary tension in the state.
The statement queried what legitimate purpose the vehicles served in the suspended deputy governor’s premises over a month after the declaration of a state of emergency.
It stressed that the recovery of its assets should not be viewed as executive overreach, reiterating its commitment to prudent management of public resources, just as it said it would not be distracted by unfounded allegations.
The statement urged all parties and residents to exercise restraint and avoid challenging the resolve of an administration that has shown considerable patience, despite persistent provocation, and also to disregard sensationalised accounts of the incident, rather focus on government’s ongoing efforts to restore stability and good governance in the state.
