THE factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and staunch supporter of Governor Siminalayi Fubara in his face-off with his predecessor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, Mr. Edison Ehie, has announced his resignation from the House.
Ehie, in his notice of resignation, dated December 29, last year, and addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmud Yakubu, said he was resigning as the member representing Ahoada East and also as factional Speaker.
The latter of notice stated: “This is to formally notify you of my voluntary resignation as Speaker and Member of the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly, representing Ahoada East Constituency II, with effect from the date of this letter.
“I wish to appreciate my colleagues and the people of my constituency for the rare opportunity to serve and hope to continue to give my utmost best in service to Rivers State subsequently.”
The actual reason he resigned could not be ascertained at press time, as he did not give any reason for his action, which was quite unexpected and caught took many by surprise.
