THE Federal High Court in Kano has ordered a halt of the suspension of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, from his party, in what is seen as a respite for the embattled former governor.
The ruling came following Ganduje’s ex parte motion seeking to enforce his fundamental right to fair hearing.
The respondents in the application are the police, Department of State Service (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and nine other individuals.
Recall that on April 15, APC executives in Dawakin Ward, Tofa Local Council of Kano State suspended Ganduje over alleged corruption.
But the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party upturned the suspension and sanctioned the Ward executives.
However, Justice Usman Na’Abba of the State High Court upheld the suspension.,
In latest development, ruling on the ex parte motion on Wednesday, Justice A.M. Liman, ordered that suspension should not be implemented, pending the hearing and determination of the case.
The Judge held: “That all the parties are hereby mandated to maintain status quo before the purported emergency meeting of the alleged executive members of APC Ganduje Ward, and to stay action in respect of this matter, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive application.”
The Judge fixed April 30 to hear Ganduje’s appeal.
