Police Rescue Two Sisters, As One Abducted In Abuja

Published:

THE Federal capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has rescued two kidnapped sisters after trailing the abductors to a checkpoint and engaging them in a shootout, leading to the victims being abandoned.

FCT Police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, who confirmed the rescue, said the feat by operatives attached to Asokoro Police Divisional headquarters on Wednesday, January 31, was achieved when the Police, in a coordinated operation, rescued the victims about 1:00 am

“Following the report of the abduction of two persons, later identified as Sarah Hassan and one Mrs. Erima Bobo-John, at Kobi community of Abuja, in the early hours of Wednesday by some armed hoodlums, Police operatives of Asokoro Divisional Headquarters swiftly swung into action and trailed the kidnappers to Nyanya/Keffi road, where they were blocked by operatives of the Nigerian Army on checkpoint operations.

“On sighting the Police operatives, the bandits engaged them in a gun duel and were outlasted by the firepower of the Police, which forced them to abandon the victims and scamper to safety through the nearby forest.

“The victims, who have been reunited with their families, were rescued unhurt.”

Meanwhile, an unconfirmed report said a Director in the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) in Abuja, Aondo Ver, was on Thursday, February 1, kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be bandits.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at Pambara New Extension in Bwari Central Area of the FCT.

The kidnappers were said to have gained access to Pambara New Extension, which is about 200 metres away from the military camp and checkpoint in Bwari, through the fence after cutting the barb wires.

Adeh was yet to react to the fresh case of abduction, but the Command had earlier urged residents to report suspicious activities through its emergency lines-08032003913; 08061581938; 07057337653 and 08028940883.
