Published:

THE Lagos State Police Command has arrested three domestic staff of Aribemchukwu, daughter of Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, who was killed on Wednesday morning, July 31 in Lagos.

The Command’s spokesman, Mr. Benjamin Hundeyin (SP), said: “Our men have arrested three people in connection to the murder of the daughter of Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia at her residence in Parkview Estate. One of them is a driver, and the other two are maids.

“Three domestic staff have been arrested and handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), which has since taken over the investigation.

“Chukwu, daughter of Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia, was found lifeless this morning about 6:45 am at the entrance of her parents’ house on Bembe Street in Parkview Estate, Lagos.”

He added that the arrest of the three suspects was initiated in line with a directive from the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade, to thoroughly investigate the death, noting: “We are investigating and will further inform the public on our outcome.”

The deceased, popularly called Chuchu, was reportedly killed in her Parkview Estate residence in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State.

A family source said she was killed and her body was discovered outside the gate of her residence, adding: “It would appear that new household staff might have been responsible and tried to stage as if she was outside when it happened.

“There are signs of an attempt to clean up blood inside the house and in the compound. This was indeed the handiwork, and we observe that they were newly employed less than a month, and she was alone in the house with them.

“We all need to be super careful, especially with new hire.”

Until her death, the late Aribemchukwu was a doctor and had recently married.
