BY GODWIN IJEDIOGOR
THE National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the postponement of the South-South Zonal Congress, scheduled for Saturday, February 22.
In a statement issued on Thursday night by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Debo Ologunagba, said: “The postponement of the South-South Congress is necessitated by the need for further consultation on critical issues relating to the smooth conduct of the congress in the zone.”
The party expressed regret over any inconvenience the postponement may have caused, saying a new date for the congress would be announced in due course.
It urged all stakeholders, including aspirants, party leaders, member, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and relevant agencies to take note of the changes.
The NWC, however, assured that the Southeast and Northeast zonal congresses would proceed as originally scheduled on Saturday, February 22, at the party’s zonal headquarters in Enugu and Bauchi states, respectively.
