BENUE State Governor Samuel Ortom and his Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Wike, has shunned their party, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP), presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, at the Makurdi Airport, an indication that the disagreement between Atiku and the five aggrieved PDP governors may be far from over.
Atiku, whose presidential campaign was billed to hold in Nasarawa State on Monday, December 12, decided to fly to Benue State following his inability to secure a landing clearance in Nasarawa.
About 20 minutes before his arrival, Ortom arrived at the airport and many thought he was there to receive the PDP presidential candidate.
However, about five minutes later, his party’s vice presidential candidate and Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, landed at the airport and both governors exchanged pleasantries, with Ortom asking: “So, you people will come to my state without telling me?”
Moments later, a jet landed and Ortom swiftly moved towards it to receive the person on aboard, who turned out to be Wike.
The two governors hugged and exchanged pleasantries and without wasting time, entered their vehicle and zoomed off.
Twenty minutes later, Atiku arrived at the airport alongside members of the presidential campaign council and the PDP National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, who were received by Okowa and other party members.
