ICONIC Nigerian musician, Onyeka Onwenu, was on Friday, August 30, buried in Lagos.
Onwenu died on July 30, after collapsing at a social event.
The funeral service was held at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, followed by a private burial ceremony at Ebony Vaults in Ikoyi, attended by family, friends and well wishers, who paid their last respects as her remains were being lowered to the grave.
He sons, Abraham and Tijani Ogunlende, expressed their gratitude for the love and support from the public, describing their mother as a national treasure who impacted many lives through her music and various works.
The burial ceremony was attended by prominent personalities, including the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) in last year’s general elections, Mr. Peter Obi, and Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, among others.
