THE newly deployed Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr. Abaniwonda Surajudeen Olufemi, has assumed duty as the 22nd Commissioner of Police, Delta State Police Command.
Olufemi takes over from the newly promoted Assistant Inspector General (AIG), Mr. Wale Abass, who has be transferred to Police Force Headquarters in Abuja.
In his remarks earlier, Abass thanked the state government and the people of the state for their cooperation while he was in-charge of the Command, urging them to extend the same cooperation to his successor.
While taking over from Abass, Olufemi promised to build on existing security mechanisms in place towards enthroning peace and safety in the state and advised the public to always cooperate with the Police and other security agencies at all times and charged youths not to allow themselves to be used as for any act of criminality.
He assured that the Command under his leadership would make the state uncomfortable for criminals.
A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe, said Olufemi was born on February 22, 1966 and hails from Epe Local Council of Lagos State.
He was Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Criminal Investigation Department of Kogi State Command and the immediate past Deputy Force Secretary at Force Headquarters, Abuja.
He was promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police on June 1, last year.
