Okutepa Laments State Of The Nation, Urges Nigerians To Wake Up

Published:

A LAWYER and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr. Jibrin Samuel Okutepa, has lamented the situation in the country, “where educated elites installed misfits in governance; where those who have the duties and responsibilities of being light installed darkness to overcome light.”

In a post on his X handle, the senior lawyer stated: “We have in the Nigerian society people who know evils, but preferred to install these evils in positions of power to perpetuate evils against the vast majority of people, just simply because of the benefits they derived from the unjust system.

“We are in a country where people who are trained to give undiluted justice to the people preferred to give injustice in judgments in abuse of their oaths of office, simply because of the pecuniary or other favours they derived from those they installed in power. This, coming from ecclesiastical cycles, speaks volumes.

“We are now in a morally-depraved society where people see evil, but prefer to embrace it on the grounds of primordial partisan selfish interests.

“We are in a country where we take ownership of thieves and electoral armed robbers because of the benefits from these irresponsible and unaccountable leaderships in positions of power.

“So, when I see Nigerians of all shades suffering from what our professors and legal profession have inflicted on us in the guise of doing their job, I weep for my dear country, Nigeria.

“Nigeria is in deep moral trouble. Nigeria is indeed in deep need of national rebirth and change of attitude and character. People in positions of authority don’t care what their misconduct have caused this nation.

“How do you even speak of insecurities in our land. These are the functions of compromises by security agencies.

“Nationalism is far from us. Nigeria, oh Nigeria, my county, who will help us to have a better society. Those who have ideas are driven from the seat of power. Those who have the ideas and are in power have been compromised to fall in lines of evil doers. Nigerians wake up.

“The suffering in the land does not discriminate. All the tribes and religions and members of political parties are in it. There is no market where partisan membership gives free food today.

“Let us wake up to do good.”
