DELTA State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has congratulated elder statesman, Chief Godwin Ogbetuo, on his 92nd birthday.
The governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba, said Delta and Nigeria would continue to benefit from Ogbetuo’s struggle to bring about good governance in the state and country.
While describing the nonagenarian as a leader who epitomises selflessness and statesmanship, he prayed that God would raise more leaders in Ogbetuo’s mould in Delta and Nigeria’s political and socio-economic firmament.
Oborevwori said: “As a great patriot and elder statesman, you have made significant contributions to the growth and stability of Delta State and Nigeria through your selfless service to humanity.
“As a one-time chairman of Delta Elders and Leaders Forum, you displayed an uncommon wisdom and irrepressible courage in your service and was very instrumental to my emergence as governor. You contributed actively to the political evolution and emancipation of Delta State and we owe you a great deal of gratitude.
“As you celebrate your 92nd birth anniversary today, I join your family, friends, well-wishers and the Urhobo worldwide to thank Almighty God for your life and to pray that He continues to bless you with robust health, greater wisdom, guidance, protection and enduring provisions.”
