Nigerian, Osuji, Appointed CCJ Judge

A NIGERIAN-Canadian international jurist, Dr. Chile Eboe-Osuji, has been appointed as a Judge of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ), with effect from April 11, this year, to replace Justice Andrew Burgess, who retired on the same date.
According to the Regional Judicial and Legal Services Commission, Eboe-Osuji has taken up his new role.
Born in Anara-Mbano, Eboe-Osuji hails from Duruike kindred, Umuduruehie-Aguna, Anara community in the Isiala Mbano Local Council of Imo state.
He achieved a historic milestone by being the first and only black globally to be elected as the President of The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands, a position he held for a three-year term from 2018 to 2021.
The international jurist completed his secondary education at Aquinas Secondary School, Osu, in Mbano and obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Calabar before pursuing further studies abroad.
He served as the fourth president of the International Criminal Court of Justice in The Hague and is a member of the Media Freedom Coalition’s High-Level Panel of Legal Experts on Media Freedom.
