THE Nigerian Air Force (NAF) air component, in collaboration with troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) has killed three Islamic State West Africa (ISWAP) commanders in the Marte-Kukawa axis of Borno State.
The commanders, who were killed on Wednesday, include Abou Maimuna, Abou Zahra and one Saleh, among the other terrorists eliminated by the multiple airstrikes.
The military operations, which were coordinated by the new Air Component Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Air Commodore U.U. Idris, was executed with a NAF Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft.
Idris said the Super Tucano fighter jet spotted the terrorists moving in a canoe on the shores of Lake Chad as they attempted to flee the airstrike.
Military source in Maiduguri confirmed the death of the three commanders and their lieutenants in the canoe in the airstrikes.
Meanwhile, other military strikes were targeted in the Ali Sherifti or Kwatan Shalla and Kukawa axis, where an unconfirmed number of terrorists were killed during the military airstrikes operations, according to a source close to the military.
