My Business Collapsed After I Criticised Pastors, Daddy Freeze Laments

Published:

CONTROVERSIAL On Air Personality (OAP), Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze, has lamented the severe personal and financial losses he suffered after publicly criticising Nigerian pastors and religious institutions.
Daddy Freeze, in an interview with Leadership Podcast, said his outspoken and critical views on religion were not without heavy cosst, including the complete collapse of his business investments and a total blackout from his lucrative career as a Master of Ceremonies (MC).
According to him: “When I came after the Nigerian pastors, at the initial stage, I lost 100 per cent of my business. It got so bad for like two years.
“I used to MC and my rates were high, I used to charge N1.5million when the US Dollar was N150.”
He explained that he earned as much as $10,000 per MC job, often getting booked every couple of months, amounting to “a revenue of at least $60,000 annually from just one aspect of my business, and it went away.
“Since 2019 till now, I haven’t had an MC job.”
He recounted how one of such already confirmed jobs fell through due to the backlash of his critical position against pastors and religious institutions, saying: “After they paid upfront and the flier went viral, people said they were not going to attend the event.
“The guy had to call and inform me, and when I told him that we had already agreed, he said if it is about the upfront payment, ‘you can keep it.”
Daddy Freeze, who had consistently challenged the teachings and wealth practices of some notable Nigerian pastors, has remained quiet of late, ostensibly due to these experiences.
