THE Kano State Government has filed a fresh fraud charge against the immediate past governor of the state and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, former commissioner for Local Government under his administration, Mr. Murtala Garo, Lamin Sani and Muhammad Takai.
According to the charge sheet, Garo, Sani and Takai were charged with criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, making false statements or return and criminal misappropriation.
According to the charge sheet, the state government had accused them of mismanaging the statutory allocations of the 44 local governments remitted to the State Joint Local Governments account from the Federation Account, as well as criminally diverted tN57.4billion through several personal accounts of local governments’ cashiers and other personal and cooperate accounts.
They are also accused of transferring the funds into United States (US) Dollars for their personal benefits, in addition to acquiring a service apartment on the Murtala Muhammad Way; a commercial apartment at Akoya Oxygen- x20868 Dubai in Tigerwood; Plot 2201, Floor 22, Damac Height, Marsa Dubai Marina; a multi-billion naira hotel in Jabi, Abuja; filling stations on Gwarzo Road Kano and Eastern Bypass, Kano.
According to the charge sheet, the state said it would call 143 witnesses.
No date has been fixed for the matter.
Recall that on April 4, the state government filed a suit against Ganduje; his wife, Hafsat Umar; his son, Umar Abdullahi Umar; Abubakar Bawuro; Jibrilla Muhammad; Lamash Properties Limited; Safari Textiles Limited and Lesage General Enterprises.
On July 16, in the charge sheet with case No. K/143c/24, the state government accused Ganduje and a former commissioner for Justice, Mr. Musa Lawan, of criminal conspiracy and misappropriation, as well as abuse of office.
