Kano APC Nullifies Ganduje’s Suspension, Sacks Party’s Ward Exco

*Ward Leaders Disown Suspension, Blame NNPP

THE Kano State Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has also suspended ward party leaders who earlier suspended the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje,  from the party for six months.

Recall that in a move reminiscent of the Adams Oshiomhole saga, the Executive Council of Ganduje Ward in the Dawakin Tofa Local Council, purportedly led by Haruna Gwanjo, at a press briefing in Kano, on Monday, April 15, announced the suspension Ganduje, saying the former governor has to exonerates himself of corruption allegations regarding his long-standing dollar case.

Gwanjo said the former governor has to clear his name of corruption allegations regarding his bribery case.

But in a swift reaction, the party in the local council dismissed the suspension and sacked those behind it.

Chairman, Inusa Dawanau, told journalists that those behind the action were caught in anti-party activities and their records of meetings with the opposition were exposed.

The suspension of the ward leaders has been adopted by the State Working Committee, saying: “They have sanctioned them for six months and a special investigations panel has been set up to verify several allegations against them.”

According to the committee, Ganduje’s suspension is invalid, null and void and cannot stand.

This has be reaffirmed by the party’s executives in Dawakin Tofa Local Council and the Ganduje Ward Executive Committee members have dismissed the purported suspension of Ganduje from the party.

Chairman of APC Ganduje Ward, Alhaji Ahmed Koko, said the purported suspension was announced by non-APC members in the ward, adding: “Those who addressed the press conference were sponsored by the NNPP state government, and from the record of the party at the Ward, local government and state, they are not card-carrying members of the APC.”

While addressing a press conference in Kano late Monday evening, on behalf of the Ward and local government executive committee members, Koko reiterated that the purported suspension was null and void and would have no effect on the national chairman.

“The Ward and Local Government Executives, having identified the persons involved in this unfortunate situation, have already prepared to charge them to court for impersonation and calculated attempts to embarrass and dent the image of the party and that of the national chairman,” Koko added.

He called on all party members to disregard the purported suspension and remain calm.
