ICPC Interviews Accuser In Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Perm Sec

Published:

THE Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) has invited an aide to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Simisola Fajemirokun-Ajayi, following her sexual harassment allegation against the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Ibrahim Lamuwa.

Recall that Fajemirokun-Ajayi’s allegation, in a petition, prompted a letter from the Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, to the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, calling for a thorough investigation.

But Lamuwa has denied the allegations, saying the complainant misunderstood the situation and circumstances mentioned.

Some staff of the ministry had also called for an investigation of Lamuwa regarding sexual harassment.

The embattled permanent secretary was subsequently suspended by the office of the Head of Service, pending the outcome of a probe into the matter.

The ICPC has waded into the matter and invited Fajemirokun-Ajayi, through the minister, for an interview at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 14.

The letter, signed by Acting Director of Operations, Mr. S. Yahaya, titled, ‘Investigation Activities: Notice of Invitation,’ said: “In view of the above and pursuant to Sections 28 and 40 of the said Act, you are kindly requested to release and direct Mrs. Simisola Fajemirokun-Ajayi of the Ministry to appear for an interview before the undersigned at the Commission’s Headquarters, Abuja, on Friday, 14 June 2024 at 10:00 hours.”
