I Clearly Won the 1999 Election Against Olusegun Obasanjo- Falae

Published:

A FORMER minister of Finance and later, Secretary to the Military Government of Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, Chief Olu Falae, who was the presidential candidate of the defunct All Peoples Party (APP), has claimed that he defeated Chief Olusegun Obasanjo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and actually won the 1999 presidential election.
Falae, speaking on Arise Television programme on Thursday, June 12, said: “After the election, I went to court and my lawyer, the late GOK Ajayi, successfully established that if the duplicated results were discounted, I won by 1.5 million votes.
The late Ambassador Dende Fernandes also informed me that he had seen the election results with the Americans and I won by a landslide.
“I’m convinced that Nigerians voted for me. Clearly, the military was apprehensive about a thoroughbred civilian taking over from them and instead preferred a hybrid.”
