Ganduje Quit Position Over Kwankwaso’s Move To Join APC

Published:

FACTS are beginning to emerge linking the decision of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje to resign as national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to moves by former Kano State governor and arch political rival, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, to join the party.
Ganduje had on Friday, June 27, submitted his resignation letter to the party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola, in Abuja, citing health reasons.
However, a source told Daily Post that Ganduje’s move was due to Kwankwaso’s plan to decamp from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the ruling APC “any moment from now, except he changes his mind again, but as of today, the arrangement has been made for that to happen.”
The source added: “It looks like they are sworn enemies, the defection of Kwankwaso is very important to the APC, especially as 2027 is concerned, but Ganduje has vowed that he won’t welcome him into the party, so he has to step aside.”
There are speculations that President Bola Tinubu may dump Kashim Shettima and pick Kwankwaso as his running mate for the 2027 presidential elections, with supporters of such move saying Kwankwaso has more electoral values than the incumbent vice president.
