Former Super Eagles Goalie, Peter Rufai, Dies At 61

Published:

A FORMER legend of Nigeria’s senior national team, the Super Eagles, Peter Rufai, has died at the age of 61.

Rufai passed away on Thursday morning, July 3, after a long illness that kept him out of the public glare for some time.

However, his family was yet to announce his death at press time, but a top Lagos State Government official confirmed it.

Regarded as one of Nigeria’s greatest goal stoppers, the former Stationery Stores and Go Ahead Eagles goalie had an illustrious career, earning 65 caps for the national team, including appearances in two World Cups and the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) triumph.
