Federal High Court Resumes Tuesday After Annual Vacation

THE Federal High Court (FHC) will on Tuesday, September 17, resume sitting after its yearly vacation, which began on July 23 was expected to end on September 13.

Normal court sitting was supposed to begin on Monday, September 16, but for the public holiday declared by the Federal Government to celebrate the Eid-ul-Maulud; hence court activities will resume officially on Tuesday.

The FHC Assistant Director of Information/ICT, Dr. Catherine Oby-Christopher, in a statement on July 11, said the Chief Judge, Justice John Tsoho, had announced commencement of the court’s yearly vacation.

According to the statement: “By virtue of the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4 (d) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2019, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Justice John Tsoho, announces its 2024 Annual Vacation and Roster for Vacation Judges.

“The vacation will commence from July 23 to September 13, 2024. Normal court sitting will resume on September 16, 2024.

“This is in order for Judges to enjoy their well- deserved rest and to prepare for the tasks and activities of the new legal year.”

The statement advised the litigating public to approach Abuja, Lagos and Port-Harcourt divisions of the court for matters of extreme urgency during the period.

Justices Emeka Nwite and Justice Peter Lifu of the Abuja division; Justice Akintayo Aluko and Isaac Dipeolu, as well as Justices A. T. Mohammed and P. M. Ayua were appointed as Vacation Judges for Lagos and Port-Harcourt divisions, respectively.
