THE Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, presided over by Justice C. N. Oji, has adjourned ruling on the bail application of Peter Enenche, popularly known as Enenche Enenche, to August 20.
Enenche, through his lawyer, Dr. S. M. Oyeghe, had approached the court seeking an order to restore his bail or to be admitted to fresh bail, following the revocation of his earlier bail by Emmanuel Iyanna of the FCT Magistrate Court, after his compulsory retirement on July 1, this year.
The case had previously been adjourned to August 19, but the ruling was not ready, prompting the court to set a new date.
Enenche is engaged in an ideological dispute and conflict with the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre,Pastor Paul Enenche.
He is standing trial, alongside former Dunamis pastor, Abraham Daniel, at the Magistrate’s Court on allegations of defaming Enenche via social media posts.
Charges against Alexander Enenche, the Dunamis pastor’s younger brother, and Reno Omokri were discontinued, leaving only Enenche and Daniel as defendants.
The pastor has alleged that the duo, along with Alexander and Omokri, defamed him through social media posts, when on August 1, SaharaReporters reported that the defendant’s application to restore his bail had suffered another setback owing to the retirement of Magistrate Iyanna.
The Magistrate had, in a previous ruling, refused to recuse himself from the matter, insisting on proceeding with the case, despite a lack of trust and allegations of bias and compromise against him.
