EFCC May Arrest Former Minister Over N37.1bn Fraud

Published:

THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) might arrest former minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq, following her failure to honour an invitation to its Abuja headquarters on Wednesday, January 3.

Farouq was requested to appear for questioning in ongoing investigation into an alleged N37.1billion fraud during her tenure.

The anti-graft agency said the alleged fraud was perpetrated through a contractor, James Okwete, who has been arrested.

But the former minister failed to show up after hours over eight hours without an official explanation, thereby facing possible arrest if she continues to shun the invitation.
