EFCC Arrests E-Money In Lagos, Flown To Abuja

OPERATIVES of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC), on Monday, April 28, arrested a popular Lagos socialite, Emeka Okonkwo, aka E-Money, for allegedly abusing the Naira note.
E-Money, who is the brother of popular Nigerian singer, KCee, was reportedly arrested on Monday night at his residence in the Omole area of Lagos.
According to an EFCC source, the billionaire businessman was arrested for allegedly spraying United States (US) Dollars, an act said to be in violation of the Foreign Exchange Act.
According to the source: “On Monday night, we arrested E-Money for Naira abuse and defacing foreign currencies. Specifically, he was alleged to have sprayed U.S. dollars, which is against the Foreign Exchange Act.
“He was arrested at his Omole, Lagos residence. Preliminary investigations are ongoing and he will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
E-Money, who is the chief executive officer of Emmy Cargoes Nigeria Limited and Five Star Music, was taken into custody on Tuesday morning, April 29, in Lagos.
He is alleged to have committed the offence at a social event in Lagos.
It was gathered that he was being transported to Abuja for further questioning, a development confirmed by an opertive, who said: “He has been arrested and is being flown to Abuja as I speak to face investigators on the issue.”
