Delta’s Monthly Environmental Sanitation Holds Saturday

Published:

THE Delta State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for October will hold across the state on Saturday, October 25, between 7a.m. and 10a.m.
A statement by the Ministry of Information in Asaba, said both vehicular and human movements will be restricted during the period of the exercise, urging residents to clean their surroundings, cut overgrown weeds, desilt drains and ensure proper waste disposal to prevent disease outbreaks.
The statement reminded Deltans that it is their civic responsibility to keep at least a 20-metre radius around their premises clean, adding that the Commissioner for Environment, Jamani Tommy Ejiro, will lead officials of the ministry and other relevant agencies to monitor the exercise across the state to ensure full compliance.
The statement warned that defaulters would be prosecuted before mobile Magistrate courts and fined accordingly, even as it charged residents to actively participate in the exercise to promote a cleaner, healthier and safer Delta.
