THE Delta State Commissioner of Police (CP), Yemi Oyeniyi, has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s sustained investment in strengthening security across the state, saying the administration’s support to security agencies had enhanced policing and public safety.
Oyeniyi gave the commendation when the Chairman of the Delta State Security Trust Fund (DSSTF), Daniel Mayuku, led members of the Board and management, including the Executive Secretary, Samuel Osasa, on a courtesy visit to the state Police Command Headquarters in Asaba.
He expressed appreciation to the state government and the Fund for their consistent support to the Command and conveyed the gratitude of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, to Oborevwori for his commitment to improving the operational capacity of the Police through sustained investment in security infrastructure and logistics.
The Police chief particularly commended the Fund for facilitating the provision of a modern interrogation room and a state-of-the-art data room, which he said were critical to improving intelligence gathering and crime-fighting operations.
He appealled for continued support in key areas, including maintenance of operational vehicles, acquisition of technological equipment, strengthening of community policing initiatives and enhanced public engagement through social media platforms.
Responding, Mayuku reiterated the Board’s commitment to supporting security agencies through strategic investments in infrastructure, logistics and operational capacity to enable them discharge their constitutional responsibilities effectively.
Also speaking, Osasa said the Oborevwori administration remained resolute in implementing initiatives that would further strengthen security across the state, assuring that the Board would continue to deploy available resources towards improving security infrastructure and supporting programmes that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of security operations.
The Command and Fund reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration in the fight against crime and sustaining peace, security and public confidence across the state.
The visit was aimed at reinforcing the existing partnership between the Fund and the Police in safeguarding lives and property across the state.
